The conference grants four ethics awards each year, one to a judge, one to a plaintiffs’ attorney, one to a defense attorney, and one to a professor or other commentator on or participant in complex litigation. The criteria vary a bit by category but, as appropriate, we honor professionals who have made extraordinary contributions to the effective functioning of complex litigation over the course of their careers and who, in doing so, have acted with extraordinary integrity. The Center for Litigation and Courts (CLC) at UC College of the Law San Francisco (UC Law SF) and Huntington Bank are accepting nominations for Awards for Excellence in Ethics in Complex Litigation.
The awards will be presented at the third annual Complex Litigation Ethics Conference at UC Law SF on October 10, 2025. The program is organized by the CLC at UC Law SF and Huntington Bank.
The winners of the award must have demonstrated excellence in promoting ethics in class actions or other complex litigation (e.g., MDLs). An honoree will be recognized in each of four categories:
Candidates can nominate themselves, or be nominated by others, including by the Selection Committee. Nominations should describe the candidate and the candidate’s contributions to ethics in class actions or other complex litigation (200 words or fewer in total). Please submit your nominations using this online form.
To receive the award, a nominee must accept it at the conference in person (accommodations available in extenuating circumstances).
The deadline for nominations is May 1, 2025.
